Multi-Field Outdoor Recreational Facility with Air Supported 100,000 SF Dome Field Built to NCAA Standards
The University of Pittsburgh wanted to increase the dedicated outdoor facilities available for campus recreation, intramural teams, and club sports. The facility consists of a 7 acre site bound by Centre Avenue, Aliquippa Street and Champions Drive.
An air supported 100,000 SF dome field built to NCAA standards is the highlight of the project. The field was built for soccer and lacrosse and will enable students to participate in games and recreation regardless of weather conditions. All three fields in the complex are fitted with new synthetic turf, and a kiosk and maintenance/storage building. New fencing and lighting were installed, and restrooms were renovated. The two smaller fields are also designated for intramural and club sports.
