The new, award-winning facility creates a front door for the University off Forbes Avenue and establishes a street presence for the entire Carnegie Mellon University campus.The facility is a hub for student activity with state-of-the art wellness centers, meeting areas, café, and study space. The project won the 2016 MBA Building Excellence Award for New Construction Between $10 - $25 Million.
The Olympic-sized pool underwent series of upgrades to lighting & mechanical systems. Sitework included rain gardens, loading dock facilities, sidewalks, canopies, lighting, landscaping and a parking garage expansion.
The ground floor includes a new fitness center and studio theaters. The first floor features weight training areas, service desk, locker rooms, and meeting area. The second floor holds a cardio fitness area along with large and small sized exercise studios and an area dedicated to cycling.
Skibo Café and Au Bon Pain bakery were also renovated and offer a multifunctional space. The renovated area encourages social internation and collaboration by featuring communal tables, digital displays, writable wall and tabletop surfaces, and stage for performances.
