This two-phase redevelopment reflects a mission-driven investment in resident wellness, long-term stability, and neighborhood revitalization, supported by a collaborative and transparent design process. The project included the renovation of Bethlehem Haven’s women’s shelter, a historic four-story brick structure originally constructed in 1902, completed while maintaining ongoing operations, followed by the development of Uptown Flats through new ground-up wood-framed construction. Phase II required the demolition of four adjacent properties along a heavily utilized urban block to enable construction of a new five-story, 36,000 SF residential building that significantly expanded the supply of affordable and supportive housing. This phase required disciplined logistical planning, careful sequencing, clear communication, and a safety-focused approach to maintain access and minimize disruption to surrounding operations and neighborhood activity. The scale, density, and residential program required rigorous schedule management and close collaboration to deliver the building ready for occupancy.
