The St. Moritz Center for Innovation represents Allegheny’s long-standing academic excellence that embodies a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. Through the Center, students will learn and conduct research across disciplines for careers that span industries and prepare for careers of the future. By focusing on interdisciplinary learning, Reis Hall will become an integral campus space for students to learn and innovate. The inside of the building will be completely remodeled, while the exterior is going to remain close to what it looks like now, in order to keep the historic background of the building. Phase I includes building shell improvements and selective interior demolition to support Phase II. Specific work includes exterior facade repairs and weatherproofing with historical consideration, permitting, code-compliant services, site security, ADA access, roof, windows, exterior entry doors/access controls, Geo-Thermal well field, utility service upgrade, and site grading. Phase II includes extensive interior renovations and conversion into a two-story makerspace, new offices, new classrooms, and final grading/landscaping.
