The four and two-story buildings comprising the property were built in 1902 and 1930, respectively, and served as a bakery for 50 years before it closed. Vacant for six years, renovations to the historically certified building included creating twenty-six new affordable one-bedroom housing units to highlight the building’s industrial past. The first floor also houses 8,000 SF of commercial space broken into four individual units. All commercial spaces have their own mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems and separate entrances from the street. Tenants include Millie’s Ice Cream manufacturing facility and offices. A significant renovation component was tying into existing walls and systems, which required close coordination with design through preconstruction. Our team had to verify that current conditions in the field worked with the design as it developed. Mosites completed the project in the spring of 2017, adding the building to the National Register of Historic Places.
