PNC Eco Bistro

PNC Eco Bistro

Pittsburgh, PA

When PNC partnered with Parkhurst Dining Services, a member of Eat ‘n Park Hospitality Group, they created one of Pittsburgh’s first green dining experience constructed from eco-friendly products. The sustainable café is located in Allegheny Center Mall and serves as the prototypical model for all PNC cafes to follow. The Eco Bistro features bamboo walls, green glass tile walls made from 100% pre-and post-consumer waste, organic linoleum floors and natural quartz & glass countertops made from 85% recycled bottles.

Parkhurst's EcoSteps program also helps to reduce the company's environmental footprint. Included are practices such as purchasing rBST-free dairy, using biodegradable service ware, reducing paper waste, recycling fryer oil into bio-fuel, utilizing more energy-efficient lighting and composting among other initiatives. This project has achieved LEED certification for Commercial Interiors from the USGBC.
